About
Melissa Brackmann, MD is an Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Michigan Medical School.
Dr. Brackmann graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2013 and completed residency in OBGYN at Michigan Medicine in 2017, followed by fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Michigan Medicine in 2020. She was faculty at the University of Utah from 2020 to 2023, where she served as the Associate Residency Program Director for the OBGYN residency program and Director of the Core Sub-Internship in Gynecologic Oncology. She returned to Michigan Medicine as an Assistant Professor in 2023.
Dr. Brackmann's clinical interests include the surgical and medical management of gynecologic cancers, placenta accreta spectrum, minimally invasive surgical techniques and patient/family education.
Dr. Brackmann's research interests include post-graduate medical education, surgical simulation and quality improvement.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Brackmann enjoys spending time with friends and family and watching college football.

Dr. Brackmann’s research interests include post-graduate medical education, surgical simulation and quality improvement. She has presented her work at local, regional and national meetings and published in the journals of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology and BMC Cancer.
