    Dr. Adams is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan (UM) Medical School, an investigator with the VA Ann Arbor Center for Clinical Management Research, and a member of UM’s Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. She serves as Core Faculty of UM’s GI Clinical T32 Training Program and Associate Program Director of UM’s GI Fellowship Program. She completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and both her internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship training at the University of Michigan Medical School before joining the faculty in 2015.

    As a general gastroenterologist, attorney, and health services researcher, her work focuses on improving the quality and delivery of healthcare for patients with gastrointestinal conditions, by helping to define, measure, and implement high-value care across diverse practice settings. She is the recipient of a 3-year American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Junior Faculty Development Award (2018-2021) and is now independently funded through 2 VA Health Services Research & Development (HSR&D) Merit Awards and other grants focused on optimizing specialty care access and delivery. Her research has been published in journals such as JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, and Gastroenterology.

    Dr. Adams is heavily involved in national society work, serving in various leadership roles. She is a former Chair of AGA’s Quality Measures Committee (2017-20), and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of GI & Hepatology News (2021-26) and as Chair of AGA’s Ethics and Audit Committees (2021-24).
