    Alejandro Velez is a pediatric gastroenterologist with additional expertise in neurogastroenterology and motility in children. Alejandro was born in Colombia and moved to the US as a teenager spending most of his early adult life in the northeast. His training includes undergraduate education at the University of Maine, medical school at the University of Vermont, pediatric residency at Children's Hospital at Montefiore and pediatric gastroenterology fellowship in Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He is an assistant professor of pediatrics for the University of Michigan medical school and a faculty member for the division of pediatric gastroenterology of C.S. Mott Children's hospital. His passion in medicine includes the treatment of childhood constipation, motility disorders (achalasia, pseudo-obstruction), and disorders of gut-brain interaction (irritable bowel syndrome, functional abdominal pain, etc).
