Michigan Lower Extremity Services (MiLES) Multidisciplinary Foot Clinic
The Michigan Lower Extremity Services (MiLES) Clinic provides coordinated care for patients with complex or limb-threatening conditions, including diabetic foot ulcers, infections, peripheral artery disease, Charcot arthropathy and nonhealing wounds.
During one visit, patients may have access to podiatry, vascular surgery, infectious diseases, and on-site vascular testing. This multidisciplinary approach allows specialists to evaluate patients together and develop timely, individualized treatment plans. Once acute or complex concerns are addressed, MiLES works closely with the patient’s regular providers to support ongoing care. Our goal is to promote healing, prevent amputations, and help patients maintain mobility, independence and quality of life.
Our Approach
Our Michigan Lower Extremity Services (MiLES) clinic is a co-located multidisciplinary foot clinic that offers a comprehensive approach to managing foot disease within University of Michigan Health. This multispecialty clinic features providers from podiatry, vascular surgery, and infectious disease who specialize and manage the disease with patients receiving evaluations and care all at one location.
We treat patients with complicated foot disease, including those:
- With diabetes
- At risk for amputations
- With previous amputations
- With Charcot foot disease and deformity
- With limb-threatening infections and wounds as well as deformities
- With complicated wounds and wound healing

Research
The MiLES clinic offers unmatched access to world-class physician-scientists and dedicated research staff. Patients may voluntarily elect to participate in research to discover novel biomarkers, identify new and more effective treatment methods, assess patient desired outcomes, all while being cared for in concert with the clinical teams.
