Facial Gender Affirmation Surgery
Plastic surgeons at University of Michigan Health are proud to provide Facial Gender Affirmation Surgery (FGAS), also known as facial feminization surgery (FFS). FGAS can also include facial masculinization surgeries. Facial surgeries can involve multiple procedures.
Those procedures may include:
Tracheal shave
Scalp/hairline advancement
Face/neck lift, browlift
Blepharoplasty (eye lid surgery)
Rhinoplasty (nose job)
Jaw contouring
Genioplasty (chin reshaping)
Frontal (forehead) reshaping
Frontal sinus setback
When contacting CGSP to schedule your consultation please indicate what procedures you are interested in so you can be scheduled with a surgeon that can meet your needs.

- Fill out and return the Service Inquiry Form for CGSP
- Get added to the wait list
- When it’s your turn on the waitlist and CGSP contacts you to schedule your consultation meet with a fully licensed mental health clinician who is knowledgeable about gender identity, and who is able and willing to write a letter of support for this surgery. Contact us if you need a referral to such a clinician.
- Ensure that your therapist sends a letter of support for this surgery to CGSP. Your therapist can email, fax, or mail your letter. If your therapist does not have experience writing letters of support for medical intervention for transgender people, please encourage your therapist to contact us before writing the letter.
- Once CGSP has received your letter you can call our office to schedule your consultation.
