About
Thomas Klumpner, MD is a fellowship trained obstetric anesthesiologist. He specializes in anesthesia for high-risk obstetrics and fetal surgery. Dr. Klumpner’s research interests involve using technology to detect complications of childbirth before they become life-threatening. He led a multidisciplinary effort at the University of Michigan to develop an automated electronic maternal early warning system. He also serves as the Director of Informatics - Clinical for the Department of Anesthesiology, and as the Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for Perioperative Care where he uses his expertise with computer programming and web development to improve the care of patients within our health system.
