    Brian K Downie, PA-C, MS is currently an Associate Chief Physician Assistant at Michigan Medicine and the Lead Advanced Practice Provider for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is credentialed and has a clinical appointment at MedSport (Sports Medicine Service). He is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. In addition to Physician Assistant School and surgical residency he is a graduate of the University of Michigan Department of Public Health Master’s program in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis as well as the PASQUAL (Patient Safety & Quality Leadership Scholars Program) at Michigan Medicine. He now serves on both the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and UH/CVC Quality Committees.

    Professional affiliations include AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants), PAOS (Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery) and MAPA (Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants).

    His research interests include Clinical outcomes in knee, shoulder and hip conditions as well as quality improvement and patient safety.
