About
Dr. Dewar received her medical degree from The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, India. She completed a family medicine residency at University of Connecticut and geriatric fellowship at the University of Michigan. She is board-certified in obesity medicine, geriatric medicine, and family medicine. Dr. Dewar speaks English and Tamil. Her special clinical interests include geriatrics and obesity. She is the founder and director of the Optimal Health Weight and lifestyle clinic (OHWL), a weight management clinic for older adults in East Ann Arbor Geriatrics Center.

Research Overview
Dr. Dewar's research focuses on developing a clinical care model tailored to provide obesity-focused and patient centered care for older adults with obesity. Older adults with obesity have complex, competing medical problems and increased social determinant of health needs. Dr. Dewar’s work focuses on characterizing the multiple obesity-related medical problems and design interventions to this population to improve co-morbid and high-risk cardiovascular conditions, pain, mobility, function and improve quality of life.
