  • About

Dr. Daniels is a distinguished graduate of the Virginia Military Institute where he obtained a BS in both Mechanical Engineering and Biology before pursuing a medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY and went on to complete his training as a fellow in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His major research interest is device development and engineering applications for use in critical care, and he works closely with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Michigan Center for Integrated Research in Critical Care (M-CIRCC). He is an Associate Director, Michigan Center for Integrative Research in Critical Care and is also part of the Michigan Medicine Safe Medical Device Act (SMDA) Committee. His current work is focused on the development of a point-of-care platform to measure blood redox potential and to correlate blood/tissue redox to oxygen debt, tissue injury and adequacy of resuscitation in critical illness and injury.

    Areas of Practice

Improving patient care through engineering and technology advancement and applications, including the development and utilization of point-of-care redox (oxidation-reduction) potential measures in monitoring and treating critically ill/injured patients.
