About
Dr. Ramachandran is an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Women’s Health Department at the University of Michigan.
She is a southeast Michigan native who earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. She worked as a high school and middle school teacher in Detroit, MI and New Orleans, LA where she fell in love with education and caring for diverse communities. She then got her medical degree from Western Michigan Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine.
She has her Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Maternal Child Health from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. During this time, she did advocacy work in Boston and program evaluation with the CDC. She then completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA, where she received awards for Clinic Management and Research. Her research interests are in health disparities, state level health policy, and health disparities.
She is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Her clinical interests are in prenatal care, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, fibroids management, family planning, and medical education. She is proficient in Spanish and passionate about providing patient-centered, equitable care to patients regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity etc. In her free time, she loves to travel, try new recipes and restaurants, dance, and spend time with her family.Locations

August 11, 2025 - "Dr Ramachandran was very attentive and listened to my concerns. My only critique was the pelvic exam - I did not feel that she communicated that the internal exam was happening. Just being mindful that some patients are not as comfortable with this part of the exam (for any reason) and to communicate what you are doing. Also to work on asking for consent vs the "I'm just going to do...". That would have made the exam much more comfortable for me."
