About
Dr. Mills is from the San Francisco Bay Area in California and earned her BS in Biological Sciences from California State University, Chico before relocating to Charleson, SC to undergo training in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). There, she earned her PhD in Biomedical Science with emphasis in Cancer Biology and Cancer Genomics/Epigenomics in addition to her MD.
Jamie Mills, MD, PhD completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Michigan in 2021 and her fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at University of Michigan in 2024. She joined the faculty at University of Michigan in 2025, specializing in medical treatment of cancers of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, and liver cancer, including neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Mills also specializes in cancers of unknown primary (CUP), particularly those of the abdomen.
Dr. Mills is involved in significant research at University of Michigan. She works with mentors Marina Pasca di Magliano, PhD, and Filip Bednar, MD, PhD studying the epigenetics of pancreatic cancer. Additionally, she performs clinical research looking at outcomes in GI cancers and CUP with the goal of developing novel clinical trials for the treatment of these diseases.
Outside her work at the University, Dr. Mills is an active member in the Ann Arbor community and enjoys spending time engaged in various activities with her husband and their five children.Areas of Practice
