The Division of Pediatric Genetics at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive care in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of genetic disorders resulting in a wide variety of health and developmental concerns.

Our Lansing clinic, offered through Sparrow Children’s Center, includes board-certified pediatric geneticist Elizabeth Ames, M.D., PhD, and genetic counselor Jessica O'Shea, M.S., C.G.C, who can order genetic testing, counsel families regarding test results and coordinate appropriate medical management for our patients.

Indications appropriate for referral to Pediatric Genetics at Sparrow:

  • Autism/Developmental delay/Intellectual disability
  • Cardiomyopathies
  • Congenital anomalies
  • Connective tissue disorders including Marfan syndrome and aortopathies
  • Craniofacial anomalies
  • Down syndrome
  • Epilepsy
  • Failure to thrive and other growth abnormalities
  • Fragile X syndrome
  • Hearing loss
  • Neurofibromatosis
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Personal or family history of abnormal genetic testing
