Emergency and Trauma

As a Level One trauma center for adults and children, we are ranked as having the highest level of care available for emergency health care.  Our facilities are equipped to handle all urgent and emergency problems including brain injury, stroke, heart attack/chest pains, burns and poisoning.

We are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Michigan Medicine, the academic medical center of the University of Michigan, is recognized nationally for our clinical care as well as for clinical research in emergency medicine.

We have three helicopters – known as our Survival Flight service – that responds to critical emergencies.  Any one of the three Survival Flight copters can carry a patient, the medical crew and advanced life support equipment.

During the past 26 years Survival Flights have flown more than 4 million miles.

As part of this service we also have a jet aircraft capable of flying to any location within the continental United States and Canada.
