Lansoprazole Delayed Release Disintegrating Oral Tablet 15 mg (LANSOPRAZOLE DELAYED-RELEASE DISINTEGRATING TABLET - ORAL)

This medicine is used for the following purposes:

  • indigestion
  • inflammation of stomach
  • inflammation of the esophagus
  • stomach acid
  • stomach acid reflux
  • ulcers in stomach or intestines
  • ulcers in stomach or intestines

Generic Name: Lansoprazole

Instructions

Let the medicine dissolve on your tongue and then swallow.

Do not chew or swallow it whole.

If needed, the medicine may be mixed in water. Add the tablet to 4 mL of water in an oral syringe and shake well. Do not crush the tablet before mixing, or chew the bits of medicine before swallowing. After taking the dose, add another 2 mL to the syringe, shake and swallow to make sure you get all of the medicine.

Keep the medicine in its original container.

Take the medicine on an empty stomach.

Take the medicine before eating.

Peel back foil, carefully remove tablet using dry hands. Do not push the tablet through the foil.

Store at room temperature away from heat, light, and moisture. Do not keep in the bathroom.

This medicine can reduce the absorption of other medicines. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the best times to use this product.

If you forget to take a dose on time, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, do not take the missed dose. Return to your normal schedule. Do not take 2 doses at one time.

Drug interactions can change how medicines work or increase risk for side effects. Tell your health care providers about all medicines taken. Include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal medicines. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist before starting or stopping any medicine.

Tell your doctor if symptoms do not get better or if they get worse.

This medicine may affect the strength of your bones. If you have or are at increased risk for osteoporosis (weakening of the bones), your doctor may recommend foods with calcium and vitamin D.

Cautions

This medicine is not recommended for use in children younger than 1.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

Do not use the medication any more than instructed.

Please tell your doctor if you have moderate to severe diarrhea while on this medicine. Do not treat the diarrhea with over-the-counter diarrhea medicine.

It is unknown if this medicine passes into breast milk. Ask your doctor before breastfeeding.

During pregnancy, this medicine should be used only when clearly needed. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.

Do not share this medicine with anyone who has not been prescribed this medicine.

Some patients have serious side effects from this medicine. Ask your pharmacist to show you the information from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and discuss it with you.

Side Effects

The following is a list of some common side effects from this medicine. Please speak with your doctor about what you should do if you experience these or other side effects.

  • diarrhea
  • headaches
  • stomach upset or abdominal pain

Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you notice any of these more serious side effects:

  • severe or persistent abdominal pain
  • severe, watery or bloody diarrhea
  • fever
  • swelling in the neck or throat
  • numbness or tingling in hands and feet
  • fast or irregular heart beats
  • pain in the joints
  • signs of kidney damage (such as change in urine color or bubbly urine)
  • muscle aches, spasms or abnormal movements
  • butterfly-shaped rash on nose and cheeks
  • seizures
  • severe stomach or bowel pain
  • weakness

A few people may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, skin rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help quickly.
