Jawad Al-Khafaji received his medical degree from from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in 2014. After graduation, he joined and directed the Academic Nocturnist Program at VCU Health System for three years until 2017. During that time, he supervised internal medicine residents and students during their overnight rotations, and worked on developing the night educational curriculum for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In 2017 he was appointed as an Associate Program Director of Internal Medicine Residency, and was also the Medical Director of the Internal Medicine Inpatient (Housestaff) Units where he oversaw quality improvement initiatives. Dr. Al-Khafaji completed his Master of Science Degree in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018, and subsequently joined the University of Michigan and VA Ann Arbor Health System as assistant professor of medicine. His area of practice focuses on hospital medicine, education of residents and medical students and patient care safety and quality improvement.
