Heavy use of alcohol is defined as more than 2 drinks a day for men and more than 1 drink a day for women. One drink is 12 fl oz (355 mL) of beer, 5 fl oz (148 mL) of wine, or 1.5 fl oz (44 mL) of hard liquor.
