Is your child between 40 and 100 lbs. and less then 4'9" tall? If he or she is, then your child should be riding in a booster seat.

To increase awareness and use of booster seats, Safe Kids Washtenaw County and the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital's Buckle Up! program will host a booster seat giveaway from 3 - 6 p.m. on Friday, April 27. The event will take place at Crispin Chevrolet, 7112 Michigan Ave. in Saline.

State Senator Randy Richardville also plans to attend the event to help raise awareness about the importance of proper booster seat use for children. Richardville is working to help pass booster seat legislation in Michigan.

To receive a free booster seat, your child must be present, and be between 40 and 100 lbs. and less than 4'9". In addition, a vehicle with lap and shoulder belts in the backseat must be brought to the event to have the booster seat installed. Booster seats will be available while supplies last.
