Diabetes Support Groups

When you or someone you love has been diagnosed with any form of diabetes, the impact it can have on your life and your family, can sometimes be overwhelming. Many have found it helpful to attend a support group, where they can meet others who share their experiences. You can gain support and understanding, trade tips and ideas, improve your diabetes self-care, and focus on issues that are important to you. We offer several free support groups for adults and seniors living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as those who deal with complications from diabetes. The groups are led by our Diabetes Education Program staff and other affiliated U-M Health System staff, such as certified diabetes educator nurses and dietitians. Our support groups are free and open to the public, including patients who receive their healthcare outside the U-M Health System. Family members and other support people are also encouraged to attend. There are no fees and no co-pays.
