Research Overview
Dr. Shavit studies the genetics of human blood clotting disorders (e.g. hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and thrombosis) using zebrafish and mouse models in combination with genome editing tools, such as CRISPR. His laboratory is developing large scale zebrafish mutagenesis screens to identify genetic and chemical modifiers of these disorders. This will be followed by investigation of these modifiers in mouse models and human populations. See more at shavitlab.org
