Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Our Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation offers physical therapy services at University Hospital, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, MedRehab at Briarwood, MedRehab at Canton, the Spine Program, and the Spine Program at Brighton.

Physical Therapy provides services to children and adults. We evaluate and treat disability and disease, including acute conditions (such as fractures, burns, wounds, cardiac and pulmonary diseases, back/spinal injuries and trauma) and chronic conditions (such as vascular diseases, amputations, neurological deficits, orthopedic and musculoskeletal disabilities). Comprehensive pediatric services are available at MR-Milestones and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

Treatment may include therapeutic exercise, mobility training, airway clearance techniques, and the use of assistive devices, heat, cold, light, water and sound.

Our overall goal is to optimize the patient's physical mobility and function through treatment and education.
