We also offer medical nutrition therapy by appointment only, with same-day openings available occasionally. Self-referrals are welcome for patients established with a care provider at the East Ann Arbor Health and Geriatrics Center.

What happens during the initial consultation? A typical appointment will include a complete nutritional and medical history, an assessment of nutritional status, and the provision of a realistic plan of action based on the readiness, level of understanding, motivation and needs of the client. This individualized plan will reflect information that is up to date, accurate and medically sound. Follow-up sessions are scheduled for 15-30 minutes. Follow-up sessions are used to reinforce nutrition goals, estimate current intake, create menu plans and provide additional nutrition information. Family members are welcome to attend the sessions.

What are the costs? What about insurance? A nutrition visit with a registered dietitian is a covered service for ~95% of patients. If you have questions about potential out-of-pocket costs, please inquire with our Care Connect Call Center at 734-539-5006.
