Rod Hayward is an internist at the University of Michigan Health System Department of Internal Medicine and at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. He is a Senior Research Scientist at the Veterans Affairs Center for Clinical Management Research. Additionally, Dr. Hayward is a professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree at UC San Diego and did his residency and fellowship training at UCLA. For over 30 years Dr. Hayward has provided primary care and trained medical students and residents in Southeast Michigan. He is also an internationally known researcher, with advanced expertise in the prevention and treatment of diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol abnormalities and in cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention. He has served on national guideline and advisory committees.
