Dr. McDonald was raised in rural Wisconsin. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. She completed a Transitional Year Internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor followed by the Preventive Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, which included a masters of public health in epidemiology. She then completed the Pediatric Residency at the University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. Dr. McDonald's clinical interests include disease prevention through immunization and health screening. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband and two children.
