Pre-transplantation skin cancer is a major risk factor toward the development of skin cancer post-transplantation; however, it is not an absolute contraindication to transplantation. The appropriate waiting period for transplant candidates with a history of melanoma in remission is not clear, with the most current guidelines suggesting 5 years. My goal is to determine the safety of pursuing renal transplantation in patients with a pre-transplant history of melanoma.
