Michael E. Geisser is a Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has over 20 years of experience in treating persons with acute and chronic pain, has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and six book chapters related to pain treatment, mechanisms associated with pain, and psychosocial influences on the experience of pain. He is on the Editorial Boards of three major pain journals, and has received extramural funding from NIH, the Department of Defense, and industry to assist in conducting his research. He is a Past President of the Midwest Pain Society, and former Co-Chair of the Psychosocial Research Special Interest Group of the American Pain Society. arch Special Interest Group of the American Pain Society.
