Michael A Clay II is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr. Clay earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history at Northwestern University while competing on the varsity soccer team. He earned his medical degree at Michigan State University-College of Human Medicine. He completed his residency in New York City at the NYU-Bellevue Primary Care Program. Dr. Clay then worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago for 8 years, caring for an underserved population on the west side of Chicago. Dr. Clay has worked in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System since 2006. His clinical, educational, and research interests involve integrating mental health and substance abuse treatment into primary care settings, with a particular focus on opioid use disorder.
