Medical acupuncture is acupuncture provided by physicians or other allied health practitioners. Acupuncture is one of the oldest world healing traditions still in use today. American Academy of Medical Acupuncture lists a variety of conditions that respond to treatment. A short list includes:
- Acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain
- Headaches
- Low Back Pain
- Fatigue
- Depression and Anxiety
- Neuropathies and nerve-related injuries
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Sessions are typically 30 minutes in length, and provided in a quiet treatment room at the Chelsea Health Center by a physician. Some insurance companies cover acupuncture as a benefit, while others do not. You can contact your insurance company for your specific plan benefits.
