Beloved doctor, medical educator killed in crash

On Saturday, May 18, U-M primary care physician and medical educator Steven E. Gradwohl, M.D., died following a car accident on Interstate 94.

He had been on the Medical School faculty since 1994, was a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine and practiced general internal medicine at the Briarwood Medical Group. An investigation of the crash is underway.

A memorial will be held Thursday, May 23 from 6-9 p.m. in the Rogel ballroom on the second floor of the Michigan Union. All are welcome. Remarks will begin at 6:30, and will be followed by a reception.

Memorial donations, to endow the Steven E. Gradwohl “Art of Primary Care” Award and Lectureship Fund, will be accepted at the memorial event and online at
