More About Prediabetes
While many people know that type 2 diabetes is a serious health concern, far fewer people know about prediabetes. Prediabetes is a serious but reversible condition that affects 84 million American adults, or 1 in 3 people. That could be your brother or sister, your best friend or partner, or even you. And without healthy lifestyle changes, prediabetes can lead to type 2 diabetes.
People with prediabetes have higher than normal blood glucose (sugar) levels but not high enough yet to be considered type 2 diabetes. When you have prediabetes, you’re on the road to developing type 2 diabetes and are also at increased risk for other serious health problems such as stroke and heart disease. Nearly 90 percent of people with prediabetes don’t even know they have it.
The good news is, with the right steps, prediabetes can be reversed. The key is to find out early whether you’re at risk.
Here’s what past participants have said about the program:
“Do it! And stick with it…I had lost a good amount of weight and my A1C was lower (I am no longer pre-diabetic)…And my blood pressure was down and my cholesterol numbers were greatly improved!! This program was the best thing I ever did. It got me focused and set me up for success.”
“My experience was great! I lost nearly 9.3% of my starting weight and feel much better as a result.”
“Very worthwhile - good approaches to weight loss that I couldn't achieve on my own”
“The program's integrated approach to diet and exercise components was especially good for me, and having a dietitian, a reliable expert, as the group leader was excellent.”
“This program has been a motivational factor for me to get started in the right direction for my weight loss. It has been informative and educational. The program has given me the tools to continue on my healthy journey.”
