Dr. Shuman is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. Her clinical responsibilities include seeing patients with infectious disease in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Shuman is also an Associate Hospital Epidemiologist in the Department of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology, where she works to reduce healthcare-associated infections, and Assistant Medical Director of Occupational Health Services. Dr. Shuman completed her clinical training at the University of Michigan and worked at New York-Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical College prior to returning to the University of Michigan in 2014 to assume her current roles. Her clinical interests include general infectious diseases and management of exposures to infectious diseases. Her research interests include healthcare-associated infections and immunization of healthcare personnel.
