Dr. Vaughn is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Research Scientist in the Division of Hospital Medicine, The Patient Safety Enhancement Program, and Center for Clinical Management Research Ann Arbor VA Medical Center and the University of Michigan Health System Ann Arbor, Michigan.
She graduated from Duke University in 2007 with a BS in Biology and Chemistry and then from University of Michigan's Medical School in 2011. After finishing her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan she went on to serve as a Chief Resident from 2014-2015. In 2017, she graduated from the Robert Wood Johnson Master's Program, receiving her Masters in Health and Health Care Research. She now studies how to improve the care of hospitalized patients through her role as a hospitalist physician. Her main research interests include antibiotic stewardship--or how to optimize the appropriate use of antibiotics for common infections. She is also a quality improvement and antimicrobial resource expert for the Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium.
