About
Bryan J. Schneider, MD is a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is the Section Head for the medical thoracic oncology team who treats lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mesothelioma, thymoma and carcinoid tumors.
Dr. Schneider earned his medical degree from Indiana University in 1998. He also completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and served as Chief Resident in 2001. He completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Michigan. He joined the faculty at the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor in 2005 and was an Assistant Professor at Cornell University in New York City from 2008 to 2014. He returned to the University of Michigan in 2015.
Dr. Schneider is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He has served as a member of the Experimental Therapeutics Study Section of the National Institutes of Health and serves on numerous other scientific medical committees. These include the ASCO thoracic guideline advisory group, and the steering committee for the National Cancer Center Network (NCCN) guidelines.
Dr. Schneider has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has written several book chapters on the subject of lung cancer. He is married with twin boys and a cat.Areas of Practice

Dr. Schneider is interested in developing new strategies for the treatment of lung and esophageal cancer. He conducts clinical trials through the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center's Phase I Program.
