Clinical research in all rheumatologic diseases of childhood with a special interest in Juvenile Dermatomyositis and Idiopathic Uveitis. Translational research in the epigenetics of childhood autoimmunity.
Dr. Hoeltzel is Board Certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2001. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 2004. Dr. Hoeltzel completed his fellowship training in Pediatric Rheumatology at the University of Michigan, Mott Children's Hospital in 2007, and joined the Division of Rheumatology as a faculty in 2013 after 6 years as an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician in the Division of Rheumatology at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He is active in the Children's Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), a North American clinical research collaborative focused on pediatric rheumatologic diseases. His clinical interests include all rheumatologic diseases of childhood, with special interest in Juvenile Dermatomyositis and Idiopathic Uveitis.
