Research

Dr. Vaishnava’s research interests are centered around improving the quality of care and enhancing patient outcomes by delivering cost-effective and guideline-based care.  He has multiple publications to his credit, including some in prestigious journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Medicine, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and Nature Reviews Cardiology.  

Biography

Dr. Prashant Vaishnava is a cardiologist who sees patients at the U-M Saline and Canton Health Centers.  Dr. Vaishnava is a Michigan native (raised in Flint) and completed his undergraduate and medical training at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.  Having excelled in medical school as an inductee into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society, he was accepted into the prestigious internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, one of three major teaching hospitals for Harvard Medical School.  Following residency, he was an attending physician at Brigham and Women’s and had a teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School.  More recently, he completed fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City; during his fellowship, he completed coursework through the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.  Dr. Vaishnava is excited to bring his world-class training back to his native Michigan.  Dr. Vaishnava believes in the strength of the patient-doctor relationship and considers it a privilege to partner with his patients and their families to overcome and manage illness.  His research interests are centered on improving the quality of care and enhancing patient outcomes by delivering cost-effective and guideline-based care.  He has multiple publications to his credit, including some in prestigious journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Medicine, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and Nature Reviews Cardiology.
