Debra Bancroft Rizzo is a nurse practitioner in the Division of Rheumatology. She has held an appointment since 2011. Prior to coming to the University of Michigan, she was associated with the Rheumatic Disease Center in Milwaukee, WI, as a nurse practitioner in a large rheumatology practice and prior to that she worked as a Registered Nurse, coordinating arthritis patient care at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Ms. Rizzo earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Carroll/Columbia College and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Ms. Rizzo's career in rheumatology has spanned 30 years in inpatient, outpatient and academic settings. Ms. Rizzo has authored several chapters on rheumatology in nursing textbooks and currently serves as the Scientific Editor of the Advanced Rheumatology Course, an educational product of the American College of Rheumatology. Ms. Rizzo has received several awards over her career including the Addie Thomas Service Award from the American College of Rheumatology and the Yost Volunteer of the Year Award from the Arthritis Foundation-Wisconsin Chapter.
