Biography
Dr. Mahender Macha is an Associate Professor of Surgery, and specializes in adult cardiac surgery. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1991, and completed his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplantation at Stanford University in 2001. He was an Associate Professor of Surgery at Temple University in Philadelphia performing adult cardiac surgery, cardiac and pulmonary transplantation, and implanting mechanical ventricular assist devices until 2007. He began the Cardiac Surgery Program at the University of Michigan affiliate hospital Allegiance Health in Jackson, Michigan in 2007. In addition to his active clinical practice, he has an interest in both clinical and basic science research related to end-stage heart failure and the development of innovative therapies.
