  • About

I am an ABIM board-certified gastroenterologist with broad scientific training in biology, biomedical engineering, and electrical engineering. I use my broad, multi-disciplinary expertise to bridge unmet needs in clinical medicine with technological innovations in engineering. As a physician, I use my access to the clinic to accelerate translation of discoveries found in the lab. My team has pioneered the clinical use of monomer peptides as targeted imaging agents to detect epithelia dysplasia. My lab has expertise in the development of peptide ligands that bind specifically to cell surface targets overexpressed in early-stage cancers. We have previously identified and validated peptides specific for EGFR, ErbB2, claudin-1, FGFR2, c-Met, Prdx1, GPC3, CD44, and EpCAM using phage display methods and structural models. We are expert at arranging peptides in multimer configurations to enhance multivalent binding interactions for increased sensitivity, specificity, and affinity. I have served as the PI for a number of NIH-funded research programs, including 1) Network for Translational Research (NTR), 2) Barrett’s Esophagus Translational Research Network (BETRNet), and 3) Bioengineering Research Partnership (BRP).

February 3, 2026 - "Dr Wang is always excellent"

November 5, 2025 - "I discussed some treatment options with Dr. Wang, but there were several things I later saw in his Progress Notes that were surprising because we did not discuss them in the office. In the Progress Notes, Dr. Wang mentioned adjusting my [...], but did not discuss this with me. There were a few other things in the Progress Notes that were not fully discussed in the office. [...] Ultimately, it seems like Dr. Wang took everything we talked about in the office, and then after I left, reviewed my pre-appointment paperwork and then developed a treatment plan that was written in his Progress Notes, most of which was not discussed with me in the office. He appears to be an extremely competent doctor and gave me every opportunity to ask questions, but if I had not looked at his Progress Notes after I got home, I would not know about many of his treatment recommendations."

September 8, 2025 - "Dr. Wang is a very good gastroenterologist who is up to date with his specialty."
