The mission of the UH Patient, Family, and Faculty Advisory Council (UH PFAC) is to sustain a culture of true collaboration and partnership among patients, families, and faculty throughout the entire care process. Through these efforts, the UH PFAC will enhance the University of Michigan Health System’s vision of ensuring that every medical and psychosocial interaction and service will result in completely satisfied and loyal patients and families whose needs have been fully met.
Mott recognizes that we are not only a "children's hospital," but also a family hospital. When a child becomes ill, the entire family needs care. In order to create a true healing environment, we must make every effort to keep families together, communicate fully and frequently, and make shared decisions. We view patients and family as partners in care.
The University of Michigan Health System Cancer Center Patient and Family Advisory Council was created in 2012 to act as an advisory resource committee to the administration, faculty and staff of the cancer program.
Newly established, this is the first PFAC started in an ambulatory clinic. Members work on patient engagement, patient-driven initiatives, scheduling protocols and quality improvement metrics.
At the heart of the U-M Cardiovascular Center lies the belief that providing the ideal care experience stems from a partnership between patients, their families, physicians. The CVC has created a Patient and Family Centered Care Program to provide a forum for patients and families to share their personal experiences and partner with CVC faculty and staff to improve care.
Established in May 2012, the Department of Psychiatry's PFCC Council has grown into a vibrant working partnership in which patients, families, faculty, and staff collaborate to improve communication and the standard of care across ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency settings.
Radiation Oncology PFAC
The Radiation Oncology PFAC is focused on creating new spaces, processes, services to create ideal patient and family experiences.
Community Services are provided through the Geriatrics Center Social Work and Community Programs. The goal of the Social Work & Community Programs is to help people achieve the highest well-being by leading healthy, active, enriched lives.
