Construction still finished ahead of schedule; faculty and staff to have more time to train at new building

The new opening date for inpatient care at the new Mott and Women's facility has been changed from mid-November to December 4. Pediatric outpatient care clinics to the new facility will proceed on schedule in early December.
All grand opening celebration events will proceed as scheduled, including the public open house on Nov. 6.
The decision to revise the schedule for the inpatient opening was made to ensure that staff and faculty felt fully trained and oriented to the new building. Changes to the training and orientation schedule had to be made in recent weeks due to restrictions on access to the building.
The new building, which is the largest construction project ever at U-M and one of the largest ever in the state, will open ahead of its original planned date in early 2012.
More information on the new facility, and the events to celebrate its opening, is at www.mottchildren.org.
