Vascular and Interventional Radiology

Vascular and interventional radiology is a cutting-edge medical specialty that encompasses image-guided minimally invasive procedures which minimize hospital stays and patient recovery time. It is a leading and innovative partner in the minimally invasive procedural trend of medicine and surgery. University of Michigan Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) performs the entire gamut of image-guided, minimally invasive procedures in a clinically based VIR practice, which includes a peripheral arterial disease (PAD) clinic, a venous clinic, an interventional oncology clinic, a vascular malformation clinic and a neuro-interventional clinic, as well as a general interventional radiology clinic.

Every year, the University of Michigan’s Division of Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR) performs more than 15,000 procedures in addition to more than 3,000 consultations. We have 4 locations, 10 state-of-the-art vascular interventional angiography suites and 3 state-of-the-art neuro-interventional suites.

The VIR team is composed of 14 board-certified physicians, 5 physician assistants and 5 nurse practitioners. Best Doctors (a national physician peer ranking of the top 5 percent of physicians in the United States) have named more than one-third of our VIR doctors to its list. The VIR team works relentlessly to take care of patients and provide the best care possible to them.
