Red Cell Survival Study

* Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

You have been scheduled for a Red Cell Survival study which involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material.  The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.

Patient Preparation

None.

Procedure

A small amount of radioactive material will be tagged to your blood and then injected into a vein in your arm.  Blood samples will be obtained over a 3 week period.  You will return to the department approximately 12 times to have blood drawn.
