If you are facing cancer, you should know that the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only 40 centers in the U.S. to earn the National Cancer Institute’s “Comprehensive” designation by meeting strict guidelines for clinical and laboratory research, testing of new therapies, and cancer prevention and control research.

We are the only place in Michigan – and one of only a handful of cancer centers in the country – to provide 14 different multidisciplinary cancer clinics. Each of these teams of specialists offer one-stop access to comprehensive, cutting-edge treatment tailored for each type of cancer.

Just as we pursue a multidisciplinary approach when treating cancer, we take the same approach when supporting patients during treatment. That means a patient's support team includes not only the finest doctors and nurses, but cancer specialists in psychology, social work, art therapy, nutrition, finance, and countless other areas. This support is fully integrated into the patient's treatment plan because we know that cancer affects not only the organs of the body, but the whole person and the whole family. Our Comprehensive Cancer Center is also a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a consortium of 21 premiere cancer centers formed to develop national guidelines to ensure consistent, high-quality, and cost-effective cancer care.
