Overnight Accommodations

The team will handle your lodging needs so you can focus on the important things—providing support and care to your loved ones while they are being treated, or coming here for your own medical care.
Reservation Services
Best Rates for the Options You Want
Our team members will work with you to match your preferences with a local lodging option at the best rates possible. For example, if a complimentary breakfast, handicapped-accessibility, or a shuttle service is a priority for your family, we will work with you to find an option that meets your needs.
Onsite Reservations for Med Inn
We make reservations for our 30-room on-site Med Inn hotel. For patients receiving radiation treatment, please inquire about our Wilmot at Med Inn rooms.
Partnership with Area Hotels and Motels
Lodging also partners with more than 30 hotels and motels in the area (currently in Ann Arbor, Brighton and Livonia), to provide uniquely tailored services matched to your specific needs. We will take your information and preferences on accommodations, make your reservations at the best rate, provide you with information about hotel amenities, give directions to the hotel and answer any questions you may have. Lodging can help you make arrangements at many of the hotels and organizations often at a better rate than what you might otherwise receive.

Michigan Medicine Lodging Options
The Med Inn is a 30-room hotel, located in the heart of the University of Michigan medical complex. Families of patients having surgery or a loved one in one of the hospital ICUs, along with seniors and patients and visitors with special needs, will enjoy a continental breakfast delivered to your room via bellman services (hours vary). Rooms have one or two queen beds, a microwave and refrigerator, and a flat screen TV.
The nightly rate at the Med Inn is tax-exempt. Mini-suites and barrier-free rooms are also available upon request, but not guaranteed. Med-Inn Hotel offers "light touch" housekeeping service for guests staying more than one night; we will provide full service upon request.
Most patient care units permit one parent or guardian to room-in overnight with the patient as the “parent partner in care.” However, this may not be available in all units, so speak with your health care team once you arrive.
Sleeping is permitted on the window couches and in sleep chairs. Guests are not encouraged to sleep in the bed with the patient, and the patient is not permitted to sleep on the couch/in the sleep chair with the parent/guardian.
We request that parents/guardians respect patient bedtimes. Any talking, reading or TV watching after patient bedtime should be done in the family waiting room on the unit. Since the units allow little privacy, parents/guardians are asked to select pajamas for themselves with this in mind. Please be up and dressed by 8 a.m. Each parent is responsible for making his or her own bed at night and in the morning. Parents'/guardians’ belongings and suitcases should be stored in the locker provided or in the bedside stand. To facilitate housekeeping, the bedside area should be kept tidy.
Laundry: Laundry facilities are available on the floor so you may wash your own and your child's clothes. Please check with a nurse before using the machines.
Food: Parents/guardians are welcome to order guest meal trays or purchase meals in the University Hospital cafeteria. Disposable trays and utensils may be brought back to the unit. Most patient units have a small kitchen across from the nursing station that is equipped with a microwave oven, ice machine and refrigerator. All food in this kitchen is for patient use only.
Families may bring their child food from home if it supports the patient’s care plan. This food can be stored in the nourishment room refrigerator. Please label and date anything you store in this refrigerator. Any food which has not been labeled and/or used within 48 hours of the date indicated will be discarded. The hospital will not be responsible for any lost or discarded food.
Security: Since hospitals are public places, security can be a problem. Therefore, we suggest keeping purses with you at all times and leaving valuable possessions at home to prevent loss. Mott Children's Hospital cannot be responsible for the loss of personal items.
