Cosmetic Surgery Clinic Appointment Information

During your consultation visit, your surgeon and medical team will discuss your cosmetic goals, surgical and non-surgical options and provide you with the information you will need to make an informed decision. We encourage you to bring a list of questions with you to your consultation.

Our Domino's Farms location provides a private, convenient setting for your consultation and all post-operative visits. Our Cosmetic Surgery Clinic offers our patients the expertise and experience of the University of Michigan Hospital with comfort and personalized care. At the University of Michigan Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, we are committed to providing quality patient education and personalized care for our patients. Thorough communication about your expectations, goals and health history will help your surgeon create a customized treatment plan that is designed for you.

Prior to your appointment, we will be sending you a new patient packet that includes directions to our clinic and information about your visit. We also request that you fill out the History Intake form and bring it with you to your appointment.

Preparing for Your Visit

Plan to arrive at our clinic 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. You will need time to park, locate the clinic and complete any final forms. As you arrive to our clinic please make sure to have your Appointment Checklist and all materials requested for your appointment. Please check in with our customer service associates where you will be asked to provide the information listed on your Appointment Checklist. If there is any additional information needed we will have you complete it at that time.

Financing Your Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is covered by most health insurance policies, although the specifics of coverage may vary greatly. Some carriers may fully cover reconstructive procedures while others may pay only a portion of the cost.

Cosmetic surgery, however, is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective and not considered a medical necessity.

Keep in mind that there are a number of "gray areas" in plastic surgery that sometimes require special consideration by an insurance carrier. For example, eyelid surgery -- a procedure normally performed to achieve cosmetic improvement -- may be covered if drooping eyelids obscure a patient's vision. In assessing whether the procedure will be covered, the carrier often looks at the primary reason the procedure is being performed: is it for relief of symptoms or for aesthetic improvement?

Like any major investment, it is important to be aware of your financial obligations when considering plastic surgery. At the University of Michigan Cosmetic Surgery Center, our team will go over all the costs associated with your surgery so there are no surprises and work with you to explore the payment options available.

Payment Policy

You are responsible for all office visits or consultation fees not covered by your insurance and will be expected to be paid in full at the time of your visit.

If your surgery is not covered by your insurance provider, all surgery fees are expected to be paid 30 days prior to your scheduled surgery date.

We accept payments via cashier's check, personal check, money order, credit card (American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa) or cash.

Ensuring Good Outcomes Following Surgery

Smoking

Smoking can greatly impair your ability to heal. If you currently smoke, you may not be considered a good candidate for some operations. In those cases, if you are a smoker, it may result in the cancellation of your surgery. You must be nicotine and smoke-free for at least 4 weeks prior to certain surgical procedures.

Medications

Some medications can increase your risk of complications during and after your surgery. Please make sure to list the names of all current medications you are taking with our medical staff at the time of your consultation. Failure to inform us about the medications you are taking may result in the cancellation or rescheduling of your surgery
