Orthopaedic Surgery

Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Michigan Health

U of M Health Orthopedics is a nationally ranked specialty by US News & World Report 2022-23.

University of Michigan Health has been a pioneer in orthopaedic surgery care, research and education since 1930. Our surgeons have the resources and expertise to perform all surgical procedures, from the simplest to the most complex.

Today, among other treatments, we are using newer, stronger materials for joint replacements; our hip replacement surgery is less invasive and requires less recovery time; and our Spine Surgery Program doctors work closely with other specialists to provide the newest treatments to patients with neck and back disorders.

Also, our sports medicine experts at MedSport provide cutting edge care for athletes at all skill levels, and our multidisciplinary Sarcoma Program (treating cancer of the connective tissue) sees patients from around the country and provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care in one site.

At U-M, you have the peace of mind that comes from knowing our orthopaedic surgery providers are working together with therapists, nurses, and other specialists to provide leading-edge care tailored to your needs. In 2023, Becker's Hospital Review recognized University of Michigan Health as one of the top 100 leading providers of orthopedic care nationally.
